Will things ever change?

How is the American voter ever going to matter to the candidates we are supposed to support in this upcoming election. “$20,000 to attend or $50,000 if you want to eat, at a fundraiser for Mitt Romney here in one of the riches cities in California. “

Do you think that those supporters care about social services for the really needy, jobs for the unemployed or to do something to stop the mortgage companies from screwing over the middle class homeowner? I'm not sure they do. With the money from the 1% of the population that can afford to attend these types of fundraiser, they will be more concerned about the agendas these major corporations want and will pass them off as to be for the benefit of the country as a whole.

Good luck on Tuesday when you go to vote.  Once again the only candidate to vote for is the lesser of two evils.

Why Can't We Do Anything About This

Example: The Mortgage Companies and their greed that caused the mortgage melt down. Obama came to their rescue with the bail out we all know about. We also know the there was no accountability for those funds. With the sky-high rate of foreclosures the government pays the lenders a percentage of the funds lost from the foreclosure. So basically the lender get the property back to resale, keeps the funds that were paid on the mortgage note and then receives an additional 35% of the amount owed in cash from the government.

This has done nothing for the ones that needed the help, except to reduce their debt. Now they are not only out of work, but they are homeless.

Just to look back maybe 10 years ago on how mortgage company policies have changed.  Because this is how I lost my property. Ten years ago, if you were late on a payment you would be charged a late fee, showing up on your next statement. If you sent in the next payment you would still owe the late fee and it would continue to show up on your statement until it was paid. Most people where able to pay it the following month.

My scenario? Due to the hospitalization of my husband (which really has no bearing on my situation) but anyway, I mailed in my payment late.  I received a letter in the mail stating that my payment was received late and they would not accept it because it did not include the late fee. Weird, but ok.  Next month I sent in my payment for the previous month including late fee, plus the payment for the current month.  Now they want a late fee for the current month also because the previous month had not been paid for yet. I received my check back for a total of 2 months mortgage payment plus 1 late fee. I did not feel that I owed another late fee and refused to pay it.  I ended up sending them a check for over $6000 and it was returned to me with a letter the they were going to start the foreclosure process on my property.

When has a mortgage company ever not accept a payment? If it wasn't enough they would just credit your account for the amount paid and billed you for the balance.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Because it was income property I did not qualify for any of the programs that are out there now. I have no retirement plan. This property was my retirement plan.
